The amount of fishes in Seychelles is impressive and breathtaking.
There are different seasons with different possibilities to have
encounters with different species. The first one to mention is
the period from August to December where it is very likely to
see whale sharks and manta rays. The water that has a lot of plankton
during these months attracts these gentle giants and with a bit
of luck you can even see groups of whale sharks.
Year-round you will be able to see big groups of snappers, fusiliers,
jack fishes, bat fishes and different kinds of stingrays in impressive
sizes.
Furthermore there are nurse sharks, white tip reef sharks, guitar
sharks and grey reef sharks to be seen as well as big groups of
eagle rays (up to 50 at a time) and Mobula rays. The other underwater
highlights that are often spotted are: turtles, lobster, scorpion
fishes, stone fishes, bump head parrot fishes, napoleon fishes,
morays and all tropical reef fishes that are common in the Indian
Ocean.
